Barb graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Agricultural Economics. A life long career with the Agriculture Division of Statistics Canada honed a love of making numbers behave, so she actually enjoys doing accounting work. The Nova Scotia Bird Society is the fifth non-profit that she has volunteered with as treasurer.
Barb has always had an attraction to birds since being a small child from northern New Brunswick. Her passion is not with compiling lists, but improving habitat. After 35 years of raising purebred Limousin cattle on their Colchester county farm, she decided that it is less work raise birds - so her farm has been converted to Bobolink and Tree Swallow production! She has aproximatley 70 Tree Swallow nest boxes on approximately 20 sites in Colchester and East Hants. She also has contributed to the Birds Canada nesting survey for over 15 years.
