Wayne is a native of Halifax and has a daughter living in New Glasgow. He studied Culinary Arts at NSIT. He became interested in nature during hunting and fishing trips as a child with his Dad. While his father was doing the hunting and fishing, Wayne could be found taking photos of all things nature with a 35mm camera.
A chef by trade, Wayne made a career change after 20 years and is currently Commercial Operations Supervisor with Royal Environmental (RE Group). He spent many years volunteering in the fire service in Shubenacadie and Lantz, now retired. Wayne is also a founding member of Tropical Aquarium Club of Nova Scotia and moderated two North American websites for cichlids (tropical fish found only in Lake Malawi, Africa).
Other than his day-to-day job, Wayne spends his time travelling the province birding with partner, Natalie, and friends, Lori and Kyle, calling themselves Band of Birders.
