Field Trips

Field trips are open to non-members as well as members. Feel free to phone or e-mail the field trip leader or contact person ahead of time to obtain further information, directions or restrictions (e.g. dogs are not normally allowed on field trips). Registration is usually required to help manage group sizes and everyone will be asked to sign a waiver.

Ideas and suggestions for future trips are welcome. You do not need to be an expert to lead a field trip, and the trip does not need to last all day. You just need to share your favourite birding spots. Any questions, comments or suggestions, as well as all field trip reports should be directed to the Events Editor, Angie Millard. Email: fieldtripcoordinator@nsbirdsociety.ca

Dominic Cormier is a birder, naturalist, and long-time member for the Nova Scotia birding community. He has a master’s degree studying movements of migratory songbirds, is an eBird reviewer for four provinces, and enjoys all aspects of nature. Dominic is always eager to share his passion, knowledge and fondness for the birds, places, and wildlife of Nova Scotia and beyond.

David Bell, Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, has been birding since he was about five years old, and has travelled extensively in North America and the Neotropics in pursuit of birds. After graduating from the University of Guelph, he has worked as a technician, contract biologist, and bird bander on various jobs across Canada, exploring the country and learning about its birdlife along the way. He is currently living in Kelowna, British Columbia, where his partner is conducting her PhD work on cougar movements in the Okanagan Valley.
